Welcome To Lusail

Round 23 comes to the Lusail circuit in Qatar, and this should be one of the most highly-anticipated grands prix of the year. It was just a few days ago that Lando Norris & Oscar Piastri were disqualified from the Las Vegas GP, which has now blown the title fight wide open entering the penultimate race.

Norris leads both Verstappen & Piastri by 24 points and has a chance to win the championship in Qatar. (Check out more of that in the championship section below). Norris could become the second driver ever to clinch a drivers’ title in Qatar, joining Verstappen, who did so in 2023.

There will be a few obstacles ahead for the contenders on this 57-lap, 5.419-km circuit. Pirelli has mandated a 25-lap limit per tyre due to high thermal wear & stress. This will make the race a 2-stopper for everyone. Pirelli is bringing the hardest compounds in the C1 to C3 range but the Qatar GP has been no stranger to punctures due to tyre wear. Pole will be crucial, but the fight to Turn 1 even more so. Every race in Qatar has been led from start to finish.

If you’re a fan of motorsport, this weekend’s Qatar Grand Prix should be a win-win situation. Either a new champion - and McLaren’s first since 2008 - will be crowned. Or a season that’s had many dramatic twists & turns will send its championship battle to the season finale in Abu Dhabi for the first time since 2021 …
